Teaching Simulations

For the past five years I have been teaching a business simulation course which offers students the opportunity to “run their own business” in competition against other student businesses. This uses a proprietary system developed in the USA and although we are based in Australia the simulation offers great relevance to students completing their business degrees across a number of disciplines.

After teaching 7 offerings of this course since 2011 I have collected a large amount of data in the form of student reflections which not only talk about their learning but how a simulated environment has consolidated their learning over their degree.

Analysis of this data is now being undertaken with the view to publishing a paper at the 2015 ASCILITE conference to be held in Perth, WA in December 2015.
